Oria-Riff, a new face in wine!

Oria-Riff is a small business started by Cooper Davis-Draper in the heart of South Australian wine country, the Barossa Valley. With the support of great mates and a stroll through vineyards that hold a sense of space and serenity this is Cooper's initial release fittingly called 'La Petite Soif' (The Little Thirst) - A term he heard often during his time working amongst the vines at the famous Hill of Hermitage in the Northern Rhone Valley, France.

La Petite Soif is a blend of Grenache and Syrah.

The Grenache was generously donated by Paul Heinicke. Paul was initially going to pull out the Grenache vines and replant however Cooper saw the potential in the vines. He picked the grapes bucket after bucket and transformed the grapes into the wine before you. Natural whole cluster fermentation paired with traditional foot trodding resulted in a lifted and floral rendition of Grenache.

The Syrah was sourced from a vineyard hidden amongst the rolling hills of the Eden Valley called Naimanya. The vineyard sits at 500m+ elevation above sea level and runs with a slight western exposure. The fruit was picked early to retain freshness and acidity, the grapes were destemmed under the light of a full moon and after a couple weeks of foot treading the final wine was pressed out filling the room with aromas of violets and lilac.

Cooper's thoughtful picking decisions, intuitive vinification and little to no additives or manipulations allows the wine to express the sites where the fruit came from and La Petite Soif is a fine example of this.

We are lucky to have Cooper's wine Oria-Riff 'La Petite Soif' here at Molto for all to enjoy and are looking forward to Cooper's future releases!
